My first One Book, One Leyden—a distant memory. The book, The Distance Between Us, by Reyna Grande, was our first One Book selection. Having that experience be so positive for our students and staff, gave me the confidence to know we could continue the program and cultivate a reading culture in our schools. Innovation is key in school libraries, as it starts with an idea, not a budget. Taking the iteration and trying to envision what it would look like in real-time, isn’t easy. However, once you set your efforts and ideas into motion, others join you and want to be a part of that feasible and tangible energy.
